Some mention that it turns on and off a switch that controls outdoor lights on a schedule that they set, and the light toggles on/off very reliably. However, others say that the auto-turn on feature never worked, the switch will not work on the timer, and it turns off and on at weird times.

The app works well, but the lack of WiFi integration or Google integration without other products is a major downside. There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
Its good for me because I just wanted something to switch on my back porch light at night and off at daybreak on a scheduled basis and this does scheduling so far perfectly. I used to forget to turn off the lights on my way to work so this is a great help. I liked it so much I ordered a second one for another switch.
Its not good if you want to remotely turn off and on a switch because the bluetooth range is fairly short and you basicly need to be in the same room which kind of defeats the purpose and sometimes the app cant find the switch, I have to close my app and reopen it for it to finally connect. This wasnt a deal breaker for me because I didnt want it for this reason but if thats what your looking for you might not be so happy.
I've never tried the welcome home feature but i imagine since it relies on bluetooth it would also be a bit unreliable.
The installation is dead simple, but please remember this device does have limitations and may not suit everyones needs. Im sure the next version would vastly improve on its limitations.
If you just want to schedule a switch to be turned off and on this does work extremely well for that.
Update: after using two of them for about five months I have not had a single problem controlling them with my iPhone 6S Plus app. The timers works great too. Extremely happy I ignored the negative reviews and tried it out anyways.
The Bad: I never really got to use them - both units I purchased never really worked. As soon as batteries were in, I'd often start hearing them make a regular clicking noise, with even the manual button on the front of the unit not working. Worse than that, only one ever managed to remotely come close to talking to their own app; it immediately informed me it needed to do a firmware update to the switch to update it... which failed after a fair amount of time had passed (hanging out near a wall switch for several minutes isn't exactly my idea of fun) and then steadfastly refused to communicate with any phone over bluetooth (having tried three of them). Most well-designed devices with onboard firmware usually have an option to recover to either a safe mode or the last working firmware; not so with these.
That clicking noise by the way? I took them apart and found the bar that it raises and lowers to throw the wall switch was continuing to be driven by the motor engage even though it was definitely pressing against the sensor that should have stopped said motor. So all these things were doing were futilely trying to enforce the power state, ignoring the button, and in the process draining the batteries and likely driving the motor to eventual death. If your devicce does develop the "click of death", I did find I had a little success in reviving them temporarily -- but you have to get into the device and give the bar a but of a push or pull, varying amounts of strength involved. This would usually get me a few throws of the switch via the manual frontplate button, and then go back to the click of death. And since neither would communicate over bluetooth, there wasn't much point in even bothering with constantly fixing them.
I could have fought to get my money back, but since I had already taken my units apart to try to diagnose the clicking sound -- and the fact that 0 of the 2 ever worked -- I decided it wasn't worth the time to get my money back. I do hope the manufacturer can use it to further improve the product.
Not tested: Any sort of home automation integration outside of the Switchmate app itself.
Summary: It's a nice idea and definitely attractive for people who lack the willpower/knowledge to take on swapping out electric switches (or in housing that may even prohibit that), but it's execution leaves a lot to be desired.
Here are my Pros:
No Wiring Required.
No internet required so you can use it in places where there is no internet.
No Nuetral Wire Required so it works on older homes.
1 second installation after you insert the batteries. Just sit it on the switch and it magnetically holds itself on.
Easiest and quickest setup of any Smarthome product I've seen.
Does not default to on after a power outage because it's battery powered.
Plenty of options on how you want it to work.
Simple operation. So simple it makes me feel smart for buying it.
If you want to move it to another location it takes 1 second to pull it off and 1 second the slap it on another switch. No new setup required even if you moved into another home or apartment.
My Cons:
(My Cons aren't biggies to me.)
It seems you can only have one device at a time connected by Bluetooth to operate the switch using the app. If you use 2 phones only 1 will be connected. No big deal at all if you're mainly using the timer function for operation.
If small noises bother you then operation is a con for you. There's a little noise when the switch operates.
Bluetooth range is limiting if you're using a phone to operate the switch. Again once I set up the timer I'd rarely want to use the phone for operation of the switch, so no big deal for me.
No remote function over the internet. No big deal for me as I'd rarely or never need to. It seems that the Switchmate people are working on a product to resolve a remote function using a Bluetooth hub. That will may resolve being able to use more than one device at a time?
All in all, I'm extremely happy with this Smart Switch. I would recommend this switch to anyone that wants a quick, simple way to Smart up their home lighting. Extremely easy and requires no internet connection to work. If you're looking for a switch that's got a lot of functions like operating from the other side of the world then look elsewhere for now.
This switch Just Works as long as you understand it's limitations. Bluetooth connectivity normally isn't going to work at a hundred feet or more. It's more like 30-40 feet.

I am happy with this product
If you are lazy and are lying in bed, and don't want to get out to turn on or off the light.
Con:
Often when you press the switch or use the app switchmate does not work. You have to remove it from the wall and force the toggle to get it to work again.
