Samsung has announced a Tizen-powered Smart Control remote, which it hopes will further streamline the Samsung entertainment experience.

The company recently revealed that all of its 2016 SUHD TVs will include SmartThings hub functionality, which should ostensibly allow users to dim lights and start up Netflix from the comfort of their couch.

But with the announcement of the new Smart Control remote, the grand scope of Samsung's Smart TV experience is beginning to come into focus. The remote will grant users cross-platform search integration, allowing them to search for movies and shows across devices as diverse as Blu-ray players, video game consoles, and set-top streaming boxes.

There's also a strong possibility that the Smart Control remote will allow you to manage other Samsung SmartThings devices, like smart locks and the light bulbs in your living room.

Samsung hasn't unveiled the remote's design, nor has the company released the full details of its functionality, but we expect that these details will come to light this week at CES 2016.
